Jujutsu Kaisen has released a new sneak peek into the beloved characters of the series, with the exception of Gege Akutami’s favorite white-haired man, Gojo Satoru, and the daring assassin, Toji Fushiguro.
According to Myamura (@/king_jin_woo), two new illustrations of Gojo and Toji have been revealed from the highly anticipated second season of Jujutsu Kaisen, which has garnered immense popularity worldwide. The stark contrast between the two illustrations is striking. Toji’s portrait shows him with a menacing grin that casts a shadow over his face, whereas Gojo’s portrait is illuminated by a radiant light that accentuates his features. Sporting sunglasses that rest at the tip of his nose, Gojo appears carefree and jovial, his smile infectious.
Jujutsu Kaisen’s Highly-Anticipated Second Season
Fans of Jujutsu Kaisen have been eagerly anticipating the arrival of Season 2 ever since the conclusion of Season 1. The upcoming season will transport viewers back in time, 11 years prior, to when Gojo Satoru was a student at Jujutsu High, alongside his friend Suguru Geto. Season 2 will cover the “Kaigyoku/Gyokusetsu” and “Shibuya Incident” story arcs, and will also feature more anime-only scenes, according to Yuichi Nakamura, the voice actor for Gojo. “I hope that fans of the manga will enjoy the enhanced direction in the anime,” Nakamura stated. “Not only the battles, but other parts of the episodes will be more visually stunning.”
Set in a world where the negative emotions of humans give birth to Curses, whose ultimate goal is to harm humanity, Jujutsu Kaisen follows the story of Yuji Itadori, a high school student who possesses exceptional physical abilities. After inadvertently consuming the rotting finger of Sukuna, the King of Curses, Yuji is condemned to death. With the help of his enigmatic and eccentric teacher, Gojo Satoru, Yuji manages to prolong his life until he can find and ingest the remaining fingers of Sukuna.
About Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen
Gege Akutami first began publishing Jujutsu Kaisen in Weekly Shōnen Jump in March 2018 and has hinted that the series may be approaching its conclusion in the near future. The mangaka has taken several breaks recently, with the most recent being in April 2023. Despite this, the series has garnered immense popularity, with multiple volumes appearing on the New York Times bestseller list and over 70 million copies in circulation as of August 2022. However, Viz Media has come under criticism from fans for their “lazy” translations, such as in Chapter 221, “Gain and Loss.” After its publication, fans noticed that Viz had altered Gojo’s dialogue from “No” to “Nah, I’d win,” which mirrored an earlier conversation between him and Yuji.
The highly-anticipated Season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen will debut on July 7. Fans can currently stream Season 1 and the prequel, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, on Crunchyroll.
